Beloved, I Am Pleased

As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending ike a dove and lighting on hirn. And a voice from heaven said, "This is my Son, whom I love: with him I am well pleased." Matthew 3: 16-17

Jesus told His followers, "If you love Me, you will keep My Commandments" John 14:15) The kind of love Jesus was talking about involved sacifice and surrender of self.

When Jesus went to Jordan to be baptized by John, John did not feel worthy to baptize Jesus. Jesus revealed to John the reason he had been chosen "to fulfill all righteousness." John obeyed and baptized Jesus.

Obedience is a cornerstone oí our Christian faith. We accept Christ as our Savior in obedience to God's word. Not only must we believe n Him and in His leading, but we must step out n faith and take the action toward which he leads us. Look for evidence of Christ in every circumstance. Lay aside everthing in life that conflicts with vour loyalty and devotion to Him. This includes sin, rebellion and disobedience.

When we take up the cross of Christ we live for Him and Him alone. What began with a simple request to follow his commandments will end with an etema blessing; "Well done, good and faithful servant"
