Amazing Grace
“And lest it be exalted above measure…there was given to me a thorn in the flesh…For this thing I besought the Lord that it might depart from me, ‘My grace is sufficient for thee for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” II Corinthians 12:7-9
Sometimes when we hear the words “amazing grace”, we immediately think about the grace that saved us. We think of grace as kindness, blessing, or favor, but seldom do we think of grace as power. The word ‘power’ is from the Greek work ‘dunamis’ which means miraculous power, might or strength. This Greek word is from where we get our English word dynamite.
God’s grace is like dynamite when we are weak and His power suddenly surprises us. Amazing grace literally means ‘ a wonderful surprising power’. God’s grace saves us and then empowers us to walk through the trials of life.
